Solomon and all of his accomplishments were reviewed today. At the end of the twenty years it took him to build the house of the Lord and his house, Solomon started rebuilding different cities, and settled the people of Israel in them. It also reviewed Solomon’s wealth.
In addition to Solomon’s accomplishments and wealth, the Queen of Sheba was also reviewed today, of how she came to see Solomon and ask him questions. She saw Solomon’s wisdom, and agreed the reports she had heard about him were true.
All of this was previously studied on Day 108, 1 Kings 9-10.
Then it went on to review Solomon’s death and his acts from first to last being written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years. Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father, and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
Lastly, it discussed the revolt against Rehoboam. This was summarized by the two different groups of men giving counsel of two different paths. One would be kind to the people, and one would be harsh. Rehoboam decided that he would be more strict than his father and would discipline the people more harshly.
This didn’t go over well with the people and there ended up being a stoning, and King Rehoboam fled to Jerusalem, thus making Israel in rebellion against the house of David.
All of this was previously studied and summarized on
Day 109, 1 Kings 11-12.
