Days like today, make it really easy to blog about, because it was already studied. Pretty much all of today’s reading was previously studied and summarized on Day 118, 2 Kings 10-12.
In a nutshell, today discussed how Joash was made king and Athaliah was executed. Then it explained Jehoiada’s reforms and Joash repairing the temple.
Joash’s treachery was next and Zechariah, clothed in the Spirit of the Lord, said, “Thus says God, ‘Why do you break the commandments of the Lord, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the Lord, he has forsaken you…May the Lord see and avenge!'”
Then it discussed Joash’s assassination and Amaziah taking reign in Judah. It went over Amaziah’s victories and idolatry, and lastly how Israel defeated Amaziah.
Amaziah’s reign was previously studied on Day 119, 2 Kings 13-14.
