Day 189, Proverbs 9-13

The Way of Wisdom

Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse,
and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.
Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you;
reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
For by me your days will be multiplied,
and years will be added to your life.
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself;
if you scoff, you alone will bear it.
-9:7-12

The Way of Folly

The woman Folly is loud;
she is seductive and knows nothing.
-9:13

“Stolen water is sweet,
and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
But he who does not know that the dead are there,
that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
-9:17-18

The Proverbs of Solomon:
Chapters 10-13

As I have been going through my daily assignments and readings on this journey, especially lately with Psalms, I have mainly just been including the passages or quotes that stood out to me that day. Since I’d never read any of this before, I thought that would be a good way to discuss some things as a place to start.

I went about this section the same way, but could not find certain things that specifically stood out to me, because I would be typing the entire thing!

Every part of the Proverbs of Solomon so far have been insightful and impacting. There’s no way I could just simply choose a few passages to include here in today’s summary.

I highly suggest taking a closer look at them on your own. I’m curious if there were any passages that stood out to you…
