Today was about the consecration of Aaron and his sons. It explained the process similar to that discussed in Exodus 28-29. https://liveandlearnjourney.com/day-27-exodus-28-29/
The Lord told Moses to take Aaron and his sons with him and the garments, anointing oil, bull of sin offering, two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread. They were to assemble all the congregation at the entrance of the tent of meeting. Moses did as the Lord commanded him.
Moses brought Aaron and his sons and washed them with water. He put the coat on him and tied the sash around his waste and clothed him with the robe. He put the ephod on him and tied the woven band of the ephod around him, binding it to him. He placed the breastpiece on him, and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim. He set the turban on his head, and on the turban he set the golden plate, the holy crown.
Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and consecrated them. He sprinkled some of it on the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all its utensils and the basin and its stand, to consecrate them. He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him.
Moses brought Aaron’s sons and clothed them with coats and tied sashes around their waists and bound caps on them.
Then he brought a bull of the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head, and he (probably Aaron) killed it. Moses took the blood and with his finger put some on the horns of the altar, and poured out the rest at the base of the altar and consecrated it for atonement for it.
The fat was burnt on the altar, but a lot of it was taken outside of the camp and burnt.
Then, they presented the ram of the burnt offering, for the pleasing aroma of a food offering.
Then they presented the other ram, the ram of ordination, and they completed the similar ritual. Moses took the blood and put it on Aaron’s right ear and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot. Then did similar to Aaron’s sons. Then Moses threw the blood against the sides of the altar, and completed repetitive acts.
They were to remain at the entrance of the tent day and night for seven days. On the eight day Moses called Aaron and his sons and told them to make a sin offering and a burnt offering before the Lord. Moses told them “This is the thing that the Lord commanded you to do, that the glory of the Lord may appear to you.”
Aaron did all that he was commanded to do, following the rules for the offerings.
“Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them, and he came down from offering the sin offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar, and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.”
