Continuing on with week 10, today began with listing the kings defeated. It first explained the kings defeated by Moses on the east side of the Jordan. They defeated Sihon king of the Amorites and Og king of Basham. Israel conquered them and took over their territories. Moses gave that land to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh as their possession.
Then it went on to list the kings defeated by Joshua on the west side of the Jordan. There were thirty-one kings in all.
When Joshua was old and well advanced in years the Lord told him that there was still much land to take over and possess. It went on to list the land that still remained. The Lord said that he would drive the people out of the remaining lands.
Joshua was to allot the land to Israel for an inheritance as commanded by the Lord. He was to divide up the land among the nine tribes and half the tribe of Manasseh.
It then explained the locations, names, and allotments of all the land to the tribes of Israel. First the land on the east distributed by Moses, then the lands on the west of the Jordan. Later days delve into this with specifics on each tribe. The tribe of Levi did not get any land for inheritance for the Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, just as he said to them.
