When I was in college and my husband would fly in for the weekend to visit me, sometimes we would just hibernate in my apartment the whole time.
Whenever we did this, we would turn my living room into a cozy little love nest. We would move my coffee table off to the side and take every blanket and pillow I had and lay them on the floor making somewhat of a little “love lair.” It’s also really fun to build a fort around it too. Not only do you have an even cozier little haven, but it brings out your playful, child-like side, and you really end up having fun together.
We would spend the whole time snuggling, watching movies, playing games, or just talking. It was wonderful!
I would make sure we had enough food and drinks to last the weekend, and buy or make easy munchies to pick at. We always loved my spinach and artichoke dip with celery, crackers, and bread to dip in it. Any of your favorite appetizer type, finger foods would work here. I’ve also made ham, pickle, and cream cheese roll ups, veggie trays, cheese plates, fruit salads, etc. We would order pizza or some type of delivery if we needed an actual meal.
Having ingredients to make a yummy breakfast in the morning is always a good idea too. Cooking together can be fun, but dancing in the kitchen in his shirt while making him a hearty meal makes you pretty much irresistible. Or vice versa. He can get up and make you breakfast!
I would also get fun movie snacks like popcorn, candy, and bottles of Root Beer. There’s just something better about having those old fashioned bottles to drink out of. If you wanted to spice it up some you could get champagne, strawberries, chocolate, whipped cream, etc. to add a bit more romance to the night.
This year for our anniversary I thought I would recreate “the good ole days” when we were first dating and our relationship was new. I got some movies we’ve been wanting to see, popcorn, candy, and of course bottles of Root Beer.
Instead of on the floor though, I turned our bedroom into a cozy little nook, which being in the camper kind of already is. I pulled out all of our extra blankets and pillows and piled them on the bed so we could just sink into them. The scene was set, food was prepared, it was just time to relax and enjoy!
