Route 66 Passport Information and Where to Find One

The Route 66 Passport is a great traveler’s companion to help plan and document your trip down the Mother Road. There are 28 carefully selected locations along Route 66 that you can stop at for a Passport stamp. Many of the stops also offer free souvenirs or discounts.

I recommend getting your Passport early in your trip. I did not know this existed until our trip was almost over. Plan ahead, or stop right away to be part of this awesome adventure!

The Passport begins with an information page where you can write your name, dates, and beginning and ending points. This is a great way to remember your trip!

There is also an information page on how the Passport works that is loaded with the necessary information of what to do. It is suggested to download the free Route 66 Navigation App to stay updated.

I did not know about this until after we made our trip, and I wish I had known sooner. It has every attraction along the route! If you choose to pay for an upgraded membership you will receive the maps and navigation aspect that supposedly works even when there is no service.

I will definitely be looking into this when I make my next trip down the Mother Road!

Each state is organized with highlights and locations specifically chosen by the Route 66 community. When visiting each location make sure you ask them for the stamp to document your visit. Also, depending on availability, you may receive a free souvenir or discount.

Each section also has a notes page where you can write down your own notes or memories from your trip. For extra places you visit that may not be on the recommended list, you may be lucky enough to get a stamp from those too if they offer one.

I also found a Passport specifically for Arizona. It has the same stops along the way, but is jam packed full of way more information and additional attractions. I’m not sure if each state has their own Passports or not. I will be researching this, and trying to find individual state Passports the next trip.

You can purchase a passport at many locations along the route. I have not seen a set price for a Passport. I purchased mine for $10 and later that day saw it for $5. Each location must be able to choose their own price. For more information visit https://www.route66navigation.com/passport/

That’s really cool! Great info! Can I purchase a passport online?

    1. It looks like you could order it through the free Route 66 Navigation App or maybe on that website too. I linked it in the post. Looking at the app more, there’s a lot more locations that offer it for sale. I’ll need to update the original post and add them! 😀

I would like to buy a pair of Route 66 passports before we begin our trip. Is that possible?

    1. I would think so. Depending where you are starting from and what’s open at this point in time, I’d think you’d be able to find a passport at a Visitor Center near you, or at gift shops along the way. Could also try ordering one online maybe. We just did more of Rt 66 in Arizona and there were Passports at many gift shops.

I don’t believe you can get them online, and only can in person.
